Bedtime Reading

10:00:00

Hello loves! I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend!

I have recently been reading the Makeup Manual by Bobbi Brown. I got this as a present for my sister to read for Christmas last year, but we still haven't had a chance to go through it properly. So I digged it out and have started to read it whenever I have the chance.

There is hardly any good makeup artistry books out which is really disappointing as the makeup artistry business is a growing industry and you would think there would be more out there. Unfortunately not. However here is where Bobbi designed and wrote her own.

The book is split into 2 main sections, 1. Basics and 2. Artistry.

Basics has many different sections inside of it such as Equipment, Skin, Face, Lips, Eyes, Ten-Step Guide to Perfect Makeup and Special Makeup Applications. Artistry is split into Artistry, Essential Equipment for the Professional and Advanced Makeup Applications, Memorable Makeup Moments and Legends.

I can see why this is #1 best selling makeup and skincare book as it has Bobbi's 25 years of magic and tips into a lovely book.

In this book Bobbi looks at skincare to makeup to finding the right colour and type of foundation for any skin colour and tone. It also includes how to apply different eye products such as brows, eyeshadow, eyeliner and fake eyelashes. It includes the Do's and Don'ts as well which is also handy as there is some things that I learned which was very basic haha! There are also new, never before seen tips on different aspects of makeup. Bobbi looks at how important it is to take care of your skin with very informative chapters on the beauty and the science of the skin.

It also includes lots of vibrant and colourful pictures. I always find it very helpful to have pictures as I am very visual person. I also find it very helpful to have pictures if you're trying to copy a look.

This book doesn't include prices on products she is trying to get us to buy anything from Bobbi Brown. It is a very genuine and very informative book.

This book is perfect for beginner's to pros (just like the title). It also has different chapters on Bridal Makeup, Special Ocassions, Makeup During Pregnancy and the all important one Bad Day Beauty( I mean we have all had them)

This is my makeup bible!

  1. I really like the sound of this book. I have two beauty books myself, The Glam Guide by Fleur De Force and Love Tanya by Tanya Burr. although I really liked those books they aren't dedicated to beauty only which is why I am really drawn to this book in particular!

    2. I've wanted to get the Glam Guide by Fleur De Force, it looks really good. I haven't heard of Love Tanya by Tanya Burr but they both look like a lifestyle and beauty book which is excellent if you want a bit of everything!

      Love Tejal xx
